Body mass index (BMI) is a measure of body fat based on height and weight that applies to adult men and women.
There’s no “perfect weight” that fits everyone. Body mass index, measures how healthy your weight is based on how tall you are.
Calculation of BMI
Is a person’s weight in kilograms divided by the square of height in meters
BMI = Weight (kg)/Height (m^2)
Underweight: Your BMI is less than 18.5
Healthy weight: Your BMI is 18.5 to 24.9
Overweight: Your BMI is 25 to 29.9
Obese: Your BMI is 30 or higher
This indicator is for persons above 20 and not pregnant. It’s one way to see if you’re at a healthy weight. A high BMI can be an indicator of high body fatness. BMI can be used to screen for weight categories that may lead to health problems.
